Kings Lane Medical Practice is committed to ensuring that patients receive appropriate travel health advice and vaccinations in line with national guidelines, such as those issued by NHS England, National Travel Health Network and Centre (NaTHNaC), or equivalent bodies.
Travel Vaccine Procedure Booking
- Appointment Booking
- Patients should contact the practice at least 6–8 weeks before travel to allow sufficient time for vaccinations and immunity development.
- A travel health questionnaire must be completed by the patient before the consultation.
- The Practice nurse will then review this form, once this form has been reviewed a appointment will be made at the practice for the vaccines to be administered .
- Risk Assessment
- During the consultation, the clinician will assess the patient’s travel itinerary, duration, planned activities, medical history, and vaccination history.
- Risks will be evaluated based on destination-specific advice using trusted sources such as NaTHNaC or Travax.
- Vaccination Plan
- Recommended vaccines will be determined based on risk assessment and individual patient factors.
- Clinicians must inform patients about both NHS-funded and private vaccinations.
- Patients will be advised on the schedule, potential side effects, and costs (if applicable) of vaccinations.
- Consent
- Verbal or written informed consent must be obtained before vaccine administration.
- Administration of Vaccines
- Vaccines will be administered in accordance with national guidelines and best practices for infection prevention and control.
- Post-vaccination care, including monitoring for adverse reactions, will be provided.
- Documentation
- All administered vaccines will be recorded in the patient’s medical records, including the vaccine name, batch number, expiry date, and site of administration.
- Patients will be provided with a vaccination certificate if required.
- Follow-Up
- If a series of vaccinations is required, follow-up appointments will be scheduled when you attend the first appointment
What Travel Vaccines We offer
Free Travel Vaccines Available on the NHS:

Hepatitis A – including combined hepatitis A and B, and hepatitis A and typhoid.

Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Polio (Td/IPV) – usually as a combined booster.
These vaccines are free because they protect against diseases that pose the greatest risk to public health and are commonly encountered by travelers.
Vaccines Not Usually Free (Private/Chargeable):
You’ll likely need to pay for these, even if administered at a GP practice or travel clinic:
